Dembski
on his ridiculous blog has an email exchange between President Lilley
and a UCal professor Peter Irons (it looks genuine):

So Lilley talks to people about this in private but not in public.

Here's what's on Dembski's blog:
Baylor President John Lilley Responds [NOT A PARODY!]
William Dembski
Peter Irons,
it appears, has been corresponding about me with President Lilley of
Baylor. In the last month Irons has forwarded to me a dozen or so
emails in which he lays out for someone just what an execrable
character I am; and then, usually without the other party’s knowledge
or permission (at least from what I can tell), he forwards to me their
response confirming that I am indeed an execrable character. I suppose
if I were built differently I would be stung by these emails, but my
usual reaction is amusement.
In any case, it appears he wrote President John Lilley of Baylor on
Wednesday, September 19, 2007 to alert him about the crew of
EXPELLED that was coming to campus:
Also,
the Discovery Institute, of which Dembski is a Fellow, has announced on
its website that a producer of a still-in-production film called
“Expelled” will visit your campus tomorrow (Thursday) with a request to
interview you for this film. Pretending to be an “objective” account of
the evolution/intelligent design controversy on various campuses, the
film is in fact a highly biased project, devoted to showing the
“persecution” of intelligent design advocates. I’m sure you will not
agree to meet with Walt Ruloff, the film’s producer, but I did want to
warn you in advance about his deceptive intentions. Mr. Ruloff, by the
way, convinced the Baylor Lariat editors to run an opinion piece by him
in which he questioned whether Baylor faculty and administrators
believe in God. Can you believe this?
Well, after six years
on the Baylor faculty, I find it eminently believable that many of its
faculty don’t want God to have anything to do with their university. In
any case, Irons was kind enough to forward President Lilley’s reply:

Peter, thanks for your email. It is greatly appreciated.
I shall not take the bait on the movie. I greatly regret
the difficulty that Dembski has created. John
Now,
I know there has been a parody at UD of President Lilley’s words in the
past, so before posting this I made sure to contact President Lilley
(also copying the provost and others at Baylor) about whether these
actually are his words:

Dear President Lilley,
Peter Irons, a professor at one of the University of
California campuses, continually forwards to me email
communications, ostensibly between him and others.
He’s forwarded to me several putative emails from you.
I’d like to confirm whether the exchange below is
genuine before I blog on it.
If it is genuine, I would point out that any difficulties
you may be experiencing over your suppression of
ID-related research at Baylor are of your own creation.
My role in this has merely been to shine some light.
Best wishes,
Bill Dembski
Twenty-four
hours later still no disconfirmation from Baylor that Lilley wrote what
Irons forwarded to me. BTW, it’s a little known fact that Irons is on
Discovery’s payroll. Thanks Peter!
